SeaWorld Orlando will resume their killer whale shows on Saturday, February 27, 2010 according to President and CEO, Jim Atchison, after the tragic death of whale trainer, Dawn Brancheau by Tilikum the largest killer whale in captivity.
The OSHA will investigate the tragedy and the procedures around the care of the whales and the persons who handle them.
In the meantime, the show will go on. The show on Saturday is expected to be a huge draw to the Orlando, Florida park of people who want to support the SeaWorld whales and animals and enjoy the entertainment and education offered at SeaWorld and those who feel the captivity of killer whales and other animals is cruel.
One thing for certain is that SeaWorld has been an integral part of rescue of beached whales and assisting in worldwide conservation of sea life.
