Universal Orlando Resort
First opened in June of 1990, this massive theme park, the second largest after Walt Disney World Orlando, is home to two theme parks: Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure. In addition, you'll find the nightclubs, bars, shops and restaurants of Universal CityWalk, as well as three luxurious, AAA Four Diamond-rated hotels, including the Hard Rock Resort. Universal Studios Florida is dedicated to the world of movies, and offers themed areas. Meanwhile, Islands of Adventure features six unique "islands": Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, The Lost Continent, and Seuss Landing. In 2010, a new Harry Potter-themed is scheduled to open. Orlando guests are issued an "Express pass," which allows by-passing of the long lines.
Central Florida Zoological Park
Central Florida Zoological Park - while this 100-acre natural wonderland is actually located in nearby Sanford, it deserves mention. Since 1975, Orlando, FL visitors of all ages have delighted in the many exotic animals living within, such as endangered elephants, big cats, exotic birds, monkeys and primates, and alligators and crocodiles. There are entertaining and informative programs, tours and shows to take in , as well.
Ripley's Believe It or Not!
Ripley's Believe It or Not! Orlando Odditorium - fans of the freaky and the factual should head to this incredible museum in Orlando, Florida. Even the building is unique, as it looks like it's disappearing into a sinkhole. Within, this Orlando institution offers exhibits dedicated to the weird, wonderful, and unusual from all over the world. Shrunken heads and other startling afflictions, amazing achievements, one-of-a-kind masterpieces and creations, it's all here, and it's open 365 days a year.
